The Architect Family Behind Construction of Ram Mandir, Ayodhya

After a long struggle of about 500 years, the foundation stone of the Ram temple was finally laid through the Bhumi Poojan ceremony at Ayodhya. The more thrilling and painful it is, the longer the history of the Ram temple. We all know a little bit about that. But in this article, we are going to know about the architect of the Ram Mandir of Ayodhya, who designed this wonderful Ram Temple behind the spot light. India is very fortunate and proud of an extraordinary family of architects that has been building temples for 200 years. This family comes from Palitana, in Gujarat, and architecture is a family tradition, also building extraordinary temples, not only here in India, but abroad too. Among these temples include, the Krishna Janmasthan in Mathura, the Somnath Temple that was reconstructed in 1951 and the Akshardham Temples, among others. On Wednesday, 5th August, PM Modi did perform the Bhoomi Pujan event at the future site of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. This Ram Mandir architecture is being built by 77 year old architect Chandrakant Sompura.

After years of Court battles, the Travancore Family had regained their rights to the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple, and its treasures. On 13th July, 2020 the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the Travancore Family. The Supreme Court on Monday guaranteed the right of the Travancore royal family to control the assets of deity at Sree Padmanabha Swamy Temple, reversing the 2011 Kerala High court decision. Sree Padmanabha Swamy temple  is an ancient and famous Hindu temple located in the city of , the capital of the state of Kerala, India. In Malayalam, Thiruvananthapuram means "the city of Lord Ananta". In Hinduism Lord Ananta, often documented as Sesha Naga, is the King of all Nāgas and one of the principal beings of creation. In the Puranas, Shesha has been said to preserve all the celestial bodies of the universe on his invisible hoods. Ananta has been named after her infinite numbers of hoods and coils.According to the ancient Hindu texts, the secret of the illusions of time is hidden in the character of this serpent king. It is said that when Ananta Naga uncoils, time moves forward and creation takes place; when he coils back, the universe ceases to exist. But the name of the city Thiruvananthapuram refers to the deity of the Padmanabhaswamy temple, who is Maha Vishnu who is enshrined in the "Anantha Shayana" posture, the eternal yogic sleep on the serpent Adi Shesha.

The temple is not a lifeless mound of bricks and stones, but an exhibition of a living past, which binds this modern sophisticated present to our forgotten past in a single thread. So to protect every ancient temple is to preserve the pride history and the past of our golden heritage among us.

We come across so many ruined ancient temples, which may be erased from the lap of the earth in a few days, and with it some untold history and arts that will be lost forever. But our little initiative and love for our own culture may save those ancient temples from being lost in the tide of time. Maybe K V N MURTHY & K REVATHI, of Visakhapatnam, came forward in empty-handed and started a temple renovation movement, thinking like this.

Discovering The Ruined Temple

A small piece of land, in AGANAMPUDI town of Andhra Pradesh's Visakhapatnam district, came under a government agency. And K V N MURTHY used to work under that govt organization.

And there was a neglected ancient temple architecture in ruined condition, in that vast abandoned land, which, even with its dilapidated body, was a beautiful example of ancient architecture.The temple was neglected for a long time due to its thickets of bushes and shrubs. No one used to come or worship in the temple. 

But this temple could not escape the eyes of K V N MURTHY. When he found out about the temple, he immediately started temple reconstruction work restoring the ruined architecture. At first he was alone, but gradually many people in the society came forward to rebuild this temple and they started working together. 

Although we could not talk to Mr. K V N MURTHY and his better half K REVATHI, but we had conversation with his son Mr. K S VEDAVYAS through Facebook page, Mr. K S VEDAVYAS told us all the facts from beginning.

Taking care of Temple Art

According to K.S. Vedavyas, the process of restoration of this temple has been carried out with great caution. Much care has been taken to ensure that no damage is done to the ancient artwork engraved on temple wall.
